CMX thickens and enhances monophonic audio by doubling the signal and applying small amounts of pitch shift and delay to each side.
This classic microshifter approach works especially well on vocals and lead lines. Used lightly, CMX adds presence and solidity; used more heavily, it can create a polished, wider, deliberately produced sound.
CMX uses a Schwa pitch-identification and shifting algorithm designed for this exact use case. It is tuned for very small shifts, from one cent to roughly a quarter-tone, with smooth behavior and strong phase coherence.
